Today we have decided to kayak all round the Island (Wayalailai). Wake up at 8.00 a.m. at Naqalia Lodge, nice breakfast: Pancakes, hot break with jam, coffee and a piece of banana cake. Naqalia Lodge is family place and Francis the nice lady in charge of the kitchen prepared for us a nice picnic box. Departure around 9.00 a.m. Sunscreen on, shirt, water, waterproof camera, snorkeling gear and a small rope to leash up our kayaks during the snorkeling. Is sunny day, the sea is calm, and water is clear, but is hot … Maybe too hot. Ready to go. We will paddle from east to west. Our first stop is little reef not far from the shore for a snorkeling adventure. The multicolored corals with different shapes are simply amazing. We could spend a day just to watch this corals and all the sea life around. Hard corals, soft corals, clown fishes, many different kind of butterfly fishes, soldiers fishes and many more … all different color with strips and spot and some crazy design … The nature is unbelievable. Then in the deep water at the end of this wall of coral, reef sharks, groupers and turtles. Great .. but we need to back in the track otherwise we will be late. Is almost lunch time and our second stop is the sandbar between Wayalialai and big Waya. During the low tide between this two islands is possible to walk on the sandbar that come over the water. Is the perfect place for our lunch. Chicken, fish and some salad. During our lunch we were watching around and just thinking that Fiji is still wild, empty beaches, the green cover all the island just some colored roof is scattered around but not so much … But I hope will stay like this for long. The sun is getting strong and is the time to wear the t shirt and add some sunscreen we almost half way. Back on the track. On our left there is the village. Few wood houses and a church, is Saturday the kids are back from the school and playing in the water. Big smile and big BULA … always Fijians are really friendly. ¾ and we can see Kuata island, the first island of the Yasawa group from south. After on our left we can see the old village and the Wayalialai echoeven resort, almost back. IS 3 .00 p.m. we are back at Naqalia Lodge. We loved, our arms are tired but our hearths are full of great memories… Another day in Paradise…

Kayaking is one of the greatest ways to explore and discover the beauty of Fijian nature. Kayaks are small paddle boats that are very maneuverable and can be navigated through very shallow waters. This allows the paddler to be able to access spots that are out of reach for larger motor driven boats. TheYasawa Islands are a sea kayaker’s delight.
